As a Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist, I work with couples to create meaningful conversations between them that rebuild trust and connection.
If you answer yes to some of these questions, you can likely benefit from couples therapy.
  • Have you and your partner become stuck and emotionally isolated?
  • Do you and your partner end up getting frustrated and/or angry over seemingly small things?
  • Do you surprise yourself about how reactive you become when your partner stops talking or engaging with you?
  • Do you block your partner or remove yourself to try to de-escalate conflict but find it actually increases the conflict?
  • Do you poke/prod/direct your partner to try to get their attention but it doesn’t work?

Emotionally Focused Therapy for Couples is the most effective couples therapy modality that has been researched. Trained by Dr Sue Johnson and her colleagues, I offer my clients key experiences to support them in understanding more about love and how to strengthen and build it.  My primary job is to aid couples in creating safe and secure bonds. EFT research has found that when couples have a secure bond, they are able to problem solve together in ways they were never able to before. Couples then are also able to face life's challenges with much greater ease because they have a safety net in their partner to come home to.
Going to couples therapy can be investment. Here are some tips to maximize your investment:
  • Educate yourself- be an informed consumer & look at research outcome studies
  • Interview your potential therapist- ask the extent of their post license education, which modalities they specialize in and what processes, steps and stages they will use with you
  • Do not trust Psychology Today profiles, look at The International Centre of Excellence of Emotionally Focused Therapy  (ICEEFT) for accurate information regarding therapists' level of training.
